Since early childhood, this area has been a sanctuary for our family and now we would love to share it with you.

The House:
Spellbinding interiors present a fusion of Swahili beach chic and bohemian Grecian elegance. The warmth of the fabulous sandy nero walls and floor make it feel like the house is alive. Upcycled, reclaimed dhow wood is used for most of the wooden furnishings throughout the residence.
The space has been designed to flow seamlessly between outdoor and indoor. The panoramic vistas offer a wealth of alfresco places to socialize or chill.
This extraordinary home boasts five sumptuous, en-suite bedrooms, ensuring guests the utmost comfort and privacy.
This beachfront oasis will have guests fully absorbed into the relaxed pace of Watamu living in no time.
A letter from the owner…
The house is on a plot that has been in the Parkinson family since my dearest father and mother bought it back in the early ‘60s. In 2018, the plot was divided between me and my brother. My building journey began in 2020 and together with my local contractor Hilal from Lamu and his team, we created Nautilus.
The Nautilus shell was at the core of my design of the house. Alongside the inspiration of Grecian and Swahili architecture, I wanted to create a space that made the guests feel both at peace and calm whilst in tune with the natural elements.
The Nautilus shell symbolises elegance, resilience, beauty, and movement which all infuse the spirit of the house.

The Masons
What an honour and total joy to be the very first visitors at Nautilus. An absolutely beautiful house set in paradise. We have had the best time and are going to struggle to tear ourselves away. Thank you, Suzie, for being so welcoming and thanks to the delightful staff for looking after us so well. We do hope to see you again.

Suzie - These last 5 days have been some of the best of my life. I ate amazing food, explored the ocean, played in the pool, and my personal favourite was playing football for hours a day with the locals. Thank you so much for having us in this incredible house and I hope to be back soon.
Hanne and Ted
Dear Suzie- What a treat for young and ageing alike. Your beautiful Nautlius ticks all our boxes. Many thanks for the pontoon sundowner. Asante sana, love and hugs.
Love Alex
From start to finish your Nautilus has brought enormous wonder and joy - there wasn't one moment that didn't make us insanely happy. All your love sprinkled throughout made it all the more special. Thanks Suzie and Maggie was the icing on the cake. Thank you for making us feel so at home.
The Rooms
Inspired by the themes of the ocean. The underwater world had to be part of the house. (Sooz is an avid scuba diver, after all!)

The prime time to visit the coast is between October and March. Hottest Month: February. Higher chances of rain: March. Best Month: November. Whilst April-September is labeled ‘rainy season,’ there are still beautiful blue sky days but there does tend to be higher winds and more seaweed on the beach. Holidaymakers frequent Watamu year-round regardless of the seasons.

Watamu has a well-organised neighborhood watch which offers regular patrols of the area; it has a history of being a very safe town. We would encourage our guests to not walk alone on the beach at night in order to erron the side of caution. “Kisenko”, our wonderful and reliable night guard, would be happy to accompany individuals down to the beach.

The Arabuko Sokoke Forest is just a 20-minute drive, where you can see elephants whilst having a sundowner.
