Welcome to Watamu

Watamu is a quaint fishing village situated on the splendid Kenyan Coast. Wonderfully unique, this beachside town has powdery white beaches and an eclectic mix of wildlife and activities for all personalities.

South of Nautilus, the serene mangrove-fringed Mida, a broadwater tidal creek, welcomes traditional and charming white-sailed Lamu Dhows boats. Lamu Dhows are beautiful Arabic wooden sailing boats which were once used in the spice trade around Africa. They have now been given a new breath of life as a sundowner cruising vessel. (Day excursions and sundowners).

Nautilus guests can enjoy a moment of calm whilst watching the sun paint the skies all shades of gold, orange and pink. And adrenaline-seeking water sport enthusiasts can whisk down the creek and seek their own thrill.

In Watamu Village, you may stumble across some astounding Italian eateries or visit the talented craftsmen in their ‘dukas’ to pick up some handmade Kenyan Crafts.

At sunrise, you can enjoy a paddle boarding session and look out for dolphins and turtles, or if you prefer, a yoga session overlooking the tropical bay of Watamu. For those ready to break a sweat, a newly built Padel court and Kitesurfing school are a mere ten minutes drive from Nautilus.

Whether it is a holiday of rejuvenation, adventure or reconnection, this exquisite town holds it all right on your doorstep.
